Saturday’s match result from the Risby Open on TENCH and CARP Ponds…
17th February 2024.

A much warmer and thankfully drier day greeted the lads for this week’s open match.
At the draw, the majority of the lads opted to fish on the Tench Pond, with only a handful trecking down to the Carp Pond.
Willy Eyre decided he’d seen enough activity in the shallow end of the Tench Pond to give it a go.
Willy chose peg 28 and set up the method and long pole.
The carp duly obliged and after the first hour or so, he’d put 4 decent fish in his net.
Mr X was on peg 31 and decided he’d other things at home that needed sorting and packed up at midday, leaving the entire shallow bay at Willy’s mercy.
Willy caught steady throughout the match and ended with 12 carp and a few silvers for 75lbs.
Joss Gilligan made the most of his early draw and chose peg 16 on Tench.
Joss set off trying to catch carp long at 15 – 16m on corn and had a few carp but it wasn’t as solid as he’d hoped.
He therefore fished with soft pellet over micros straight out in front of him a d found a large shoal of decent skimmers.
At the scaleshe had approx 6 carp for 32:10 & a lovely bag of skimbobs totalling 32:14.
