The attendance was lower than of late, with most of the lads being under strict instructions to spend some time with their “better halves” on St Valentines Day.
For the rest of us divorcees and singletons it was business as usual, apart from the fact that it wasn’t raining !?
With temperatures hovering around zero all day in the shade, it was always going to be harder than it had been on Wednesday’s match.
However, Robbo was on peg 16 and despite a slow start and very slow last hour, he caught a few nice skimmers during the match to take the win.
Robbo alternated between double red maggot and a 4mm expander, fished over groundbait at 14.5m. Thankfully the roach weren’t feeding, which meant he could “lift and drop” to encourage bites, which worked well for the skimmers, he also had a goldfish of approx 2lbs and a 7lbs ghostie to add to his winning total of 39lbs 8oz.
Roger Edmond was sat next door in peg 17 and fished similar tactics but had to endure longer spells of the fish not biting, Rog still recorded a great winter “all silvers” weight of 17lbs 7oz.
